Sagintayev appointed deputy chairman of Nur Otan

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev appointed Minister of Economic Development and Trade Bakytzhan Sagintayev first deputy chairman of Nur Otan party, Tengrinews.kz reports citing President’s press-service. President also thanked the previous first deputy chairman of the party Nurlan Nigmatulin and noted that a good job was done during his term in the office, in particular, there were two successful election campaigns. “During the period of Nurlan Nigmatulin’s work the party dynamically worked in all areas, in particular, the election campaigns were held successfully. It is necessary to maintain this level. The party has to further work in the regions, get involved in implementation of all state programs and in resolution of social and economic problems of the country’s citizens. In this relation appointment of Bakytzhan Sagintayev, who has ample experience in resolution of regional issues will help boost the party’s activities at all levels,” Nazarbayev said. Bakytzhan Sagintayev was born in Usharal village of Zhambyl oblast on October 13, 1963. He graduated from Kirov Kazakh State University and holds a Ph.D. in Economics. In 1998 he was appointed deputy Akim (Governor) of Zhambyl oblast. In 1999-2002 he worked as deputy chairman of Kazakhstan Agency on Small Business Support, chairman of Small Entrepreneurship Development Fund, deputy chairman of Kazakhstan Agency for Natural Monopolies Regulation, Competition Protection and Support of Small Business. In 2004-2007 he served as chairman of Kazakhstan Agency for Natural Monopolies Regulation, in 2007-2008 worked as head of Kazakhstan Prime-Minister’s office. He was then appointed Akim (Governor) of Pavlodar oblast. January 20, 2012 he was appointed Minister of Economic Development and Trade.
